Kristin Chenoweth Announces Concert Tour That Takes Her Home in 2012 :
The Tony Award winning singer and actress announced Wednesday that she’ll kick off her first ever concert tour on May 9 in Seattle and it will end June 24 in Broken Arrow, Okla., the town she grew up in.
“I have sung in many plays however I’ve never tied myself down to a tour because of my crazy schedule,” said the small beauty with an amazing voice. “So now it's about time that I am finally going to tour.”
The Kristin Chenoweth Tour visits almost twenty cities in North America including New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston, Dallas, Toronto, Nashville and Atlanta, along with several other cities. Where she grew up in OK, the main 1,500 seat stage at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center will be relabeled in honor of her.
About the honor, Kristin said “For me, it will be extremely emotional.”.
Mark Frie, Broken Arrow's executive director, said that the venue has been searching for a a manner in which to honor Chenoweth since the place opened almost four years ago. “We are all so excited to honor her back home,” Mark said.
On tour, Kristin said that she will sing songs from her most recent country CD called “Some Lessons Learned,” including songs from the TV show “Glee” and ones from the Broadway hits she was in like “Popular” from the musical “Wicked.”
“If I do not sing ‘Popular’, I'm sure they'll end up carrying me out of there, I know that for sure” she said as she laughed. “I’ve grown to accept it, and you know what? I’m really very thankful for it. I’m so happy that I have music that is identified specifically with me.”
While she wants to maintain that the concert song list stays various, other songs we think she should sing are 'Glitter and Be Gay', 'The Girl in 14G' and 'Taylor the Latte Boy'. But she will also perform some opera and also offer her fans a few secret surprises.
“I willl do a little bit of everything that I do and will also do stuff that I usually do not do,” she snickered.
The star will also have dancer, back-up singers and some pretty fancy choreography. The Kristin Chenoweth tour will be directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, who has set up concerts and stages for Bernadette Peters, Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler. The Kristin Chenoweth Concert Tickets go on sale this March 9 2012.
“It’s not just going to be me and a lonely piano, sweetie.”, she said.
Chenoweth, who is 43 years old, won a Tony Award back in 1999 for her appearance in “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown”. She also won an Emmy Award for the Television show “Pushing Daisies”. She was also nominated back in 2004 for originating the role of Glinda in the broadway musical Wicked and was just on Broadway in 2010 in the show 'Promises, Promises'.
Her movie credits include The Pink Panther, Stranger Than Fiction, Bewitched, Running With Scissors, and the future films 'Ed Zwick’s Family Weekend' and 'Outrun'. The cutiepie actress will shortly be seen in the new 'GCB' which will aire on ABC.
By the time Kristin Chenoweth goes back to her town of Broken Arrow, it will be the first time she’s been back there since she was 19 years old when her parents moved. She said that she is already thinking of all the stuff she wants to do when she gets back.
A couple of the things she is going to do is drive by her old house and drive by her old Senior High School. She hopes to see old friends and maybe even some old enemies. Look out Broken Arrow!
